Messi scored the game-winning penalty in the first half and added another goal in extra time to cap off his historic career and win the World Cup.

Messi appeared to have won the game with his second goal of extra time, but Mbappe scored only the second hat trick in World Cup final history to tie the game at 3 and force penalties.
